Clooney Says Gerber Family Not Ready to Discuss Presley’s Death

Published 10 October 2026

George Clooney said he and the Gerber family were not ready to discuss Presley Gerber’s death, describing it as one of the most devastating events to affect their family. Clooney made the remarks October 9 at the Albies in London, his first public comments on the death of his longtime friends’ 27-year-old son. Asked about plans to honor Gerber’s legacy, Clooney said he did not think the families were in a position to talk about it. He added that the loss was devastating for both families. His wife, Amal Clooney, was alongside him at the event, which is hosted by the Clooney Foundation for Justice. Clooney and Rande Gerber, Presley’s father, have been close friends for decades. The two men also co-founded Casamigos, the tequila brand. Clooney said he had known Presley and his sister, Kaia Gerber, for most of their lives. Presley Gerber died September 20, 2026, at age 27. Santa Monica police said officers responded that morning to a report of a possible overdose in the 1000 block of Berkeley Street and found a deceased adult male. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the man as Gerber.
