Christopher Kane Debuts Sharp, Leather-Focused Collection for Mulberry
Christopher Kane's debut collection for Mulberry was presented at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre during London Fashion Week, marking a significant return for both the designer and the British heritage brand. The show, held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, was the first runway presentation for Mulberry since 2017 and the first for Kane since he closed his eponymous label in 2023. Kane was appointed creative director of Mulberry earlier this year by CEO Andrea Baldo, who stated the goal is to turn around the brand. The collection, titled "City Town Country," was built around the motif of the flap from Mulberry's iconic Bayswater bag, which Kane translated into geometric cutouts and scalloped edges on leather dresses, skirts, and jackets. "I've just always loved that bag, so it just felt right that we were using the flap like a logo," Kane said backstage. "It's seen, but it's not seen. It's not screaming." The leather-heavy lineup featured tailored pieces in a neutral palette, with recurring details like the Postmans Lock hardware blown up into belt buckles and adorning loafers.
