Channel 5 premieres drama based on Graham Norton novel
Channel 5 premiered a new six-part drama series titled Forever Home on Monday, September 14, 2026. The show is an adaptation of Graham Norton's 2023 bestselling novel of the same name. The series is described as a darkly comic mystery and domestic family drama. The plot follows Carol Crottie, played by Amy Nuttall, who discovers a long-dead body hidden in the basement of her home. This discovery leads her to question the story she has been told about the disappearance of her husband Robert's first wife, who reportedly ran off with his brother 20 years ago. Robert, portrayed by Douglas Henshall, has worsening dementia and a deep-seated anxiety about the house's hidden basement. The television adaptation has made changes from the source material. While the novel is set in Ireland, the series has been relocated to the North East of England. Author Graham Norton commented on the adaptation process, stating that the production developed subplots and twists that elevate the story for television. He noted that he could not have adapted it himself as he would have been too constrained by the source material.
