Chadwick completes first F1 test with Williams

Jamie Chadwick completed her first Formula 1 test, driving 32 laps in Williams’s 2025 FW47 at Portugal’s Portimão circuit on Monday, September 21. The run was conducted under the sport’s Testing of Previous Cars programme, Williams said, and came as the circuit prepares to return to the Formula 1 calendar next year. Chadwick, 28, is a Williams development driver and ambassador. She said the test was an exceptional experience and that what she learned could benefit her own racing and help her advise younger drivers. She also recalled being inspired as a young driver by seeing Susie Wolff in a Williams car. Williams team principal James Vowles said Chadwick gathered important data for the team ahead of Formula 1’s planned return to Portimão. He described her feedback and performance as impressive and said the team would look to use the experience to support its young drivers. Williams did not specify what data was collected or how it would be applied. The test marked the first time Chadwick had driven a modern Formula 1 car. She had previously raced at Portimão in the European Le Mans Series. The circuit, in Portugal’s Algarve region, last hosted a Formula 1 race in 2021.
