Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta Begins August 28

Activision has launched an open beta for its upcoming shooter, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, inviting all players to test the multiplayer mode ahead of the game's full release. The open beta began on August 28, 2026, and is scheduled to conclude on September 1, 2026, providing a four-day window for players across multiple platforms to experience the game. The open beta follows an earlier Early Access Beta that ran from August 21 to August 25, which was limited to those who had preordered the game. That initial period saw a peak of 115,145 concurrent players on its first day. The current open beta is accessible to everyone without a preorder code and is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and for the first time in the franchise, Nintendo Switch 2. Players can preload the beta client, which requires approximately 30 to 40 gigabytes of storage depending on the platform. Progress made during the beta will not carry over to the full game, a decision intended to ensure all players start on equal footing when the title launches. However, participants can earn cosmetic rewards that will be available in the final product.
