Brutal Legend 2 sequel tied to 100 million Kickstarter

Developer Double Fine Productions has launched a crowdfunding campaign for its Amnesia Fortnight game jam event, including a highly ambitious stretch goal: the creation of a sequel to the 2009 cult classic Brutal Legend. The studio has pledged to develop Brutal Legend 2 if the Kickstarter campaign reaches a staggering $100 million. The campaign, titled Amnesia Fortnight 2026, Indie Reboot, aims to fund a two-week period where Double Fine developers pitch, prototype, and vote on new game ideas. The primary goal is to raise approximately $400,000 to develop a selected prototype into a small game. However, the significant stretch goal for Brutal Legend 2 has captured widespread attention. Double Fine, which recently regained its independence after splitting from Xbox earlier this year, stated that a game like Brutal Legend 2 would require substantial funding and the studio's full focus for an extended period. The developers have emphasized they are serious about the pledge, noting that the most successful Kickstarter campaign to date raised under $50 million. The campaign is scheduled to run until September 30.
