Brexton Busch Honors His Father at Charlotte Memorial

Published 10 October 2026

Eleven-year-old Brexton Busch drove his late father Kyle Busch’s No. 8 car at a celebration of life at Charlotte Motor Speedway on October 9, performing a burnout before bowing to the crowd in a tribute to the NASCAR driver. After spinning the car’s rear tires on the frontstretch, Brexton climbed onto its roof. His four-year-old sister, Lennix, handed him a checkered flag, which he waved before making the signature bow associated with his father. The ceremony followed a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. More than 10,000 people attended the free event, according to coverage of the gathering. Organized by Kyle Busch Motorsports and the speedway, the celebration included speeches, video tributes and a display of cars from Kyle Busch’s career. Samantha Busch, Kyle’s widow, addressed the crowd and spoke about how his legacy could continue through opportunities for young racers and lessons shared with the next generation. Other speakers included Kyle’s brother Kurt Busch, team owner Joe Gibbs and drivers Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon. They reflected on his racing career and his life with his family. Richard Childress Racing has reserved the No.
