Larson wins at Kansas, extends Chase lead to 26 points

Kyle Larson won the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway on Sunday, passing Chase Briscoe with seven laps remaining and extending his lead over Denny Hamlin in the NASCAR Cup Series Chase standings to 26 points. Larson finished 0.565 seconds ahead of Austin Cindric, with Hamlin third and Briscoe fourth. Larson led 235 of the race’s 267 laps, won both stages and earned 76 points, the maximum available in a Cup race, according to race reports. He started on the front row and controlled much of the event before Briscoe passed him late. Briscoe led for 23 laps, but Larson caught him and reclaimed the lead on Lap 261. Briscoe said his car became loose late in the run, and he brushed the wall as Larson closed in. Cindric and Hamlin passed Briscoe in the closing laps. Cindric finished second, 0.565 seconds behind Larson, while Briscoe held fourth. The result gave Larson his second win in three races and his fourth victory at Kansas Speedway. Larson entered the race with a one-point advantage over Hamlin. His win increased that margin to 26 points after four Chase races.
