Body found in pond during search for missing boy Noah Woods

A major search for a missing three-year-old boy in Suffolk ended in tragedy on Wednesday evening after police confirmed the discovery of a child's body in a pond. The search for Noah Woods, who was autistic, nonverbal, and partially deaf, had mobilized over 1,300 volunteers and multiple emergency services agencies. Noah was last seen at approximately 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, at a playground on Merriam Close in Brantham, near Manningtree. He became separated from a family member and was believed to have run down an adjacent alleyway toward a nearby housing estate. Suffolk Police launched an extensive search operation involving officers, the Coastguard, fire services, and specialist units including dog teams and thermal imaging. The search concluded on Wednesday when a body was recovered from Decoy Pond, a fishing lake near the playground. Superintendent Tom Pearse of Suffolk Police addressed volunteers at Brantham Leisure Centre, where the search had been coordinated. "First and foremost, our thoughts are with Noah's family and all those who knew him," he said.
