Black Mirror Season 8 Begins Production for Netflix

Published 25 August 2026

Production has officially begun on the eighth season of the dystopian anthology series Black Mirror for Netflix, marking a swift return for the acclaimed show. Filming commenced in the United Kingdom this summer, with creator Charlie Brooker overseeing the shoot in the coastal village of Hope Cove in Devon, where a location was transformed into the fictional Sandcastle Hotel for the production. No release date has been announced for the new installment. The confirmation of production follows Brooker's earlier announcement in January 2026 that the series would return. "I can confirm that Black Mirror will return, just in time for reality to catch up with it," Brooker said at the time. He has promised the new season will "be more Black Mirror than ever." Brooker is returning as the main writer and executive producer for season eight, joined by executive producers Bisha K. Ali, Jessica Rhoades, Annabel Jones, and Louise Sutton, with Mark Kinsella serving as co-executive producer. The new season arrives approximately a year and a half after the release of season seven, which debuted on Netflix in April 2025.
