Bitcoin Holds $82,500 Support Ahead of US Inflation Data

Published 12 October 2026

Bitcoin closed the week above the closely watched $82,500 support level, as traders turned to a busy schedule of U.S. inflation releases that could influence interest-rate expectations and risk-asset markets. The cryptocurrency finished the week at about $83,700 on Bitstamp, down 3.2%, while holding above the support threshold. That kept it from returning to a previously watched 2026 trading range of $60,000 to $80,000. The price action does not establish how Bitcoin will respond to the coming economic data. The September Consumer Price Index report is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, with the Producer Price Index due Thursday, October 15. Market forecasts cited in the reports put year-over-year CPI inflation at 3.7%, compared with 3.4% in August, and monthly PPI inflation at 0.3%, versus 0.2% in August. These are forecasts, not released results. Traders are watching the figures for clues about the Federal Reserve’s next interest-rate decisions. Market-implied probabilities cited in the reports put the chance of a rate increase at the October 28 meeting at 18.8%, and the chance of a 25-basis-point increase in December at 70.6%.
