Base launches Cobalt with conditional transactions and B20 tools
Base said its Cobalt network upgrade is live on mainnet, adding conditional transactions and new controls for assets issued under its B20 token standard. The update gives users a way to submit transactions that become eligible only when specified conditions are met, while expanding options for token issuers to apply compliance policies and manage supported assets. Base describes the transaction feature, called Validity Transactions, as a way to set conditions and a deadline for a transaction’s eligibility. For example, a user could submit a swap that remains inactive unless an asset reaches a chosen price before a specified block deadline. If the conditions are not met, the transaction is not included. Base also said submissions can remain private until inclusion onchain. The upgrade’s B20 changes are aimed at issuers of tokenized assets. Composite Policies allow issuers to combine compliance checks, including identity allowlists and sanctions blocklists. Base said this can let issuers apply multiple requirements without duplicating or separately maintaining lists.
