Apple raises iPhone 18 Pro battery replacement fee to $129

Apple has raised the out-of-warranty battery replacement fee for its new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models to $129, a $10 increase from the $119 charged for the previous two generations of Pro iPhones. The price adjustment, which applies to U.S. customers, coincides with the launch of the new devices on September 18, 2026. The increase is attributed to hardware changes in the new models. According to Apple's technical specifications, the iPhone 18 Pro Max battery has a capacity of 5,391 mAh, an 11% increase over the 4,823 mAh battery in the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 18 Pro battery is 4,056 mAh, a modest 1.44% increase from its predecessor. Apple has also stated that the new batteries employ a different design, though the company has not provided a detailed public explanation for the cost increase. The battery fee is part of Apple's standard out-of-warranty service pricing. Other repair costs for the iPhone 18 Pro series remain largely unchanged from the iPhone 17 Pro models. For example, a screen replacement still costs $329 for the iPhone 18 Pro and $379 for the Pro Max, while back glass repair is $159 for both models.
