Andhra Pradesh sets local election schedule through December

Published 14 October 2026

Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha has announced a phased schedule for local-body elections, with the process set to run from October 14 through December 2, 2026. The Model Code of Conduct took effect on October 14, Punetha said. Urban local-body polling is scheduled for October 28, with counting and results on October 30. The announced schedule also sets polling for Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) for November 3, followed by results on November 5. Gram Panchayat elections are planned in three phases: November 26, November 29 and December 2. Punetha said results for each phase would be announced on its polling day. The schedule marks the stages of the statewide election process, which is due to conclude on December 2. Reports differ on the notification date for urban local bodies. Punetha’s account says notifications for about 100 urban bodies were issued October 14, while another published schedule lists October 18. The available information does not resolve that difference, so the precise notification date remains uncertain.
