Ahold Delhaize Takes Systems Offline After Security Issue

Published 14 October 2026

Ahold Delhaize took some systems offline after identifying a security issue in its network, the retailer said, as its supermarket chain Albert Heijn worked to restore disrupted distribution operations. The company has reported no indication that client data was stolen, but has not established the cause or full scope of the incident. Ahold Delhaize disclosed the issue on October 12, describing the shutdowns as a precaution to help protect its systems. The company said its teams were assessing the problem and working to limit its impact. Its stores remained open, according to the company. Albert Heijn said on October 14 that overnight work had been carried out to restart its distribution centres and that it expected all of them to be operational again during the day. That was an expectation, not confirmation that the centres had resumed operations. The incident also disrupted some customer services. Reports said Albert Heijn’s website, app and home delivery were affected. Its physical stores and checkout systems continued operating, while some app-linked discounts and savings services were paused.
