9-Year-Old's YouTube Ads Lead to $118,000 Bill on Father's Company Card

Published 17 September 2026

A 9-year-old boy's YouTube advertising campaigns have resulted in approximately $118,000 in charges on his father's company credit card, according to an account shared by the father. The incident, which unfolded over about three weeks, has left the family facing significant financial and professional uncertainty. The boy, known as Mike, runs a YouTube channel called Mighty Mike Plays, where he posts Minecraft and Roblox gameplay videos. His father, who identified himself only as Dave, explained in a video posted to the channel on September 15 that the situation began when Mike became frustrated with low view counts on his videos. Dave said he initially helped his son set up a small advertising campaign with a budget of around $20 to promote one video. Dave stated that he had previously saved his company credit card to the Google account used for the channel to purchase Robux for his son. After the initial campaign, Mike reportedly returned to the advertising settings on his own and created multiple additional campaigns. Dave explained that his son misunderstood how the budget worked, believing that spending more money would directly lead to more views.
