2027 Lexus NX Refreshes With All-Hybrid Lineup and Updated Design

Lexus has unveiled a mid-cycle refresh for its popular NX compact SUV, introducing updated styling, a redesigned interior, and a shift to an all-hybrid powertrain lineup for the 2027 model year. The second-generation NX, which debuted in 2021, receives significant mechanical and technological upgrades aimed at keeping it competitive in the premium SUV segment. The most notable change is the discontinuation of the non-hybrid NX350 model. For 2027, the NX will be offered exclusively with hybrid powertrains: the NX350h full hybrid and the NX450h plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Both models utilize a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with Lexus's sixth-generation hybrid technology. The NX350h produces 241 horsepower in the United States, while the more powerful NX450h PHEV generates 322 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid variant receives substantial upgrades. Its lithium-ion battery capacity has increased from 18.1 to 23.0 kilowatt-hours, boosting the electric-only driving range to an estimated 40 miles in the U.S. and up to 62 miles in Europe. The system now supports DC fast charging, a first for a Lexus plug-in hybrid, allowing for a 10-80% charge in approximately 30 minutes.
