Zverev clinches Laver Cup title for Team Europe

Team Europe won the 2026 Laver Cup in London, defeating Team World 13-5 after Alexander Zverev beat Learner Tien in the deciding singles match on Sunday. The victory secured Europe’s sixth title in the competition and came a day after the teams entered the final round with Europe leading 7-5. Jakub Mensik and Flavio Cobolli opened Sunday’s play with a 7-5, 6-3 doubles win over Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz, extending Europe’s lead. Zverev then clinched the title with a 7-6, 6-3 victory over Tien. With the result settled, a further scheduled match was not needed, and Carlos Alcaraz did not play on Sunday. The teams had traded momentum on Saturday. Team World moved in front after de Minaur defeated Zverev and Tien beat Cobolli, erasing Europe’s overnight advantage. Alcaraz then saved two match points to beat Fritz 6-3, 4-6, 13-11, drawing the teams level at 5-5. Europe regained the lead when Zverev and Casper Ruud won their doubles match against Alexander Bublik and Brandon Nakashima. Alcaraz said at the post-championship press conference that the team format helped restore his enjoyment of tennis.
