ZetaChain Votes to Shut Down Blockchain, Migrate ZETA to Solana
ZetaChain token holders have voted overwhelmingly to shut down the project's independent Layer 1 blockchain and migrate its native ZETA token to the Solana network. The governance vote on Proposal 68 concluded on September 20, 2026, with 99.4% of participating votes in favor, according to the project's governance portal. Participation reached 58%, clearing the required 40% quorum. The approved proposal authorizes a one-for-one conversion of native ZETA to a Solana SPL token, retaining the same ticker and total supply. The migration will not create new tokens. A technical adjustment will shift the token's decimal precision from 18 to 9 to match Solana's standard format. Existing vesting schedules will continue under their original terms. However, the vote does not immediately trigger a shutdown or token movement. A second governance proposal is required to establish the specific block height for a balance snapshot, the final shutdown date, and the process for users to claim their tokens on Solana. ZetaChain stated this follow-up vote will not be submitted until major cryptocurrency exchanges have confirmed their procedures for handling the token swap.
