Zendaya to Star in Alex Garland’s A24 Sci-Fi Film

Zendaya is set to star in an untitled science-fiction film for A24, written and directed by Alex Garland, with production expected to begin in 2027, according to reports attributed to Deadline. Plot details have not been disclosed. The project reunites Zendaya with A24 after her work on the studio’s 2026 feature The Drama and the HBO series Euphoria, which A24 produced. It also extends Garland’s relationship with the studio, whose previous collaborations with him include Ex Machina, Men, Civil War and Warfare. The film is described as science fiction, but no further information about its story or other cast members has been reported. The reports say Garland will direct from his own script. They characterize filming in 2027 as expected or planned, rather than confirming that production has begun. The casting adds another project to Zendaya’s slate. She is also expected to appear in Dune Part Three, scheduled for release in December 2026, and to voice a character in Shrek 5. Her recent screen work includes The Drama and roles in The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, according to the reports.
