Zelenskyy Says Russian Drones Entered Moldova Twice During His Travel

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Russian drones entered Moldovan airspace on two occasions in recent weeks while his presidential aircraft was in the country, suggesting his presence may have been connected to the incursions. The disclosure, made in an interview on September 15, follows a drone alert on September 9 that temporarily disrupted his departure from Moldova for Norway. According to Moldovan authorities, two Russian drones entered the country's airspace on September 9, prompting a temporary closure of the airspace. One drone crashed in a field north of the capital, Chisinau, causing a fire, while the other continued into Romanian airspace. Fragments recovered from the site were consistent with a Russian Geran-type drone. Moldovan officials reported a second incursion on September 14, when two drones entered the airspace for approximately 10 minutes each. Zelenskyy linked the incidents to his travel. "In Moldova, my presidential jet was there, and that's why they attacked Moldova, the airspace of Moldova," he said. He added that a similar incident occurred on his return journey through Chisinau several days later.
