Zcash Price Surges to Highest Since 2016
The privacy-focused cryptocurrency Zcash has experienced a significant price surge, pushing its market capitalization towards $20 billion and reaching its highest valuation since 2016. The token, ZEC, reached a high of approximately $1,249.28 on Monday, September 7, 2026, before settling around $1,195, according to market data. This rally marks a substantial recovery for Zcash, which had traded as low as $7.7 in April 2025. The recent price increase is largely attributed to institutional developments, most notably the launch of the first U.S. spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) for Zcash. Grayscale's Zcash ETF, trading under the ticker ZCSH on NYSE Arca, began trading on August 25, 2026. This regulated product has provided mainstream investors with a new avenue to gain exposure to ZEC, contributing to substantial inflows. Since its debut, the ZCSH ETF has recorded at least $34.4 million in net inflows, with its assets under management reaching over $400 million. The ETF closed Friday, September 4, 2026, at $83.77 per share. Zcash's price has climbed approximately 138% over the past 30 days and about 45% in the last week.
