Zak Starkey has rejoined The Who for rehearsals, marking a potential reconciliation with the rock band just over a year after a highly publicized split that saw the drummer fired, briefly reinstated, and then dismissed again. Frontman Roger Daltrey revealed the development during a solo concert in Las Vegas on August 26, 2026, stating the band had recently rehearsed with Starkey to prepare for possible future shows. Speaking to the audience at the Encore Theater, Daltrey said, "We had a rehearsal recently to make sure we can think about doing some shows in Europe." He confirmed Starkey was on drums and added, "It sounded great." Starkey, 60, later confirmed the news on social media, sharing a screenshot of a news report and writing, "Nice one Rog. Looking forward to tearing it up with The Who again." In a statement, the drummer described the session as "absolutely on fire," adding, "I'm so happy to be back playing the music I love with people I love. It's good to be home."
