Zafer Dogan jailed for AI image offences

Zafer Dogan was sentenced to two years and four months in prison at Wood Green Crown Court after admitting multiple offences involving indecent images of children, including using artificial intelligence to create sexualised images from photographs he took. Police and prosecutors had opposed his bail on three occasions, but he was allowed to return to his flat near a children’s playground while proceedings continued, according to accounts presented in court. The court heard that 33 images of adult women and two children, aged seven and 13, had been digitally altered using AI. Prosecutors said the original photographs showed people going about their daily lives, including children playing on climbing frames. Dogan admitted three counts of making indecent images of a child, covering 653 category A images, 294 category B images and 900 category C images. He also admitted two further counts of making indecent photographs of a child, as well as offences involving extreme explicit content, a prohibited image of a child, purported intimate images of an adult and obstructing a constable.
