YouTube Announces Creator AI Tools and TV Features

Published 23 September 2026

YouTube announced a broad set of creator and viewer features at its annual Made on YouTube event on September 23, including new artificial intelligence tools for video production and plans to bring more interactive features to television screens. The announcements also include a Shorts series format and an expansion of the company’s Shopping affiliate program. For viewers watching on televisions, YouTube said it plans to let people leave video comments by speaking into their remote controls’ microphones. Users will be able to edit comments, and the company said recordings will not be used to train Google AI models. The reports do not specify a complete rollout schedule or which devices and markets will support the feature. YouTube also plans to make creator Posts, including text and images, available on living-room screens. Kurt Wilms, a YouTube senior director of product management, said the company is unsure how often viewers will use Posts on televisions. The feature would bring to TV a way for creators to communicate with subscribers between videos, such as explaining a delay.
