Youth Congress petition seeks Gyanesh Kumar’s removal

The Indian Youth Congress has launched an online petition seeking the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alongside an investigation into electoral processes and the public release of election records. The campaign follows reporting that two election commissioners repeatedly raised objections about electoral-roll decisions, a claim the Election Commission says does not indicate disagreement over final decisions. The petition, titled “Gyanesh, Its Done Bro,” also calls for Kumar’s arrest and prosecution. The youth wing said it wants to take the campaign beyond social media and mobilise citizens, particularly young people. Its demands include releasing internal objections and electoral records so the commission’s decision-making can be examined. The Congress separately announced plans for demonstrations. General Secretary K. C. Venugopal said state party units were directed to march to their respective state election commission offices on September 25, calling for Kumar’s removal and an independent review of decisions and electoral-roll changes made under his leadership.
