XRP surges in August with $150M ETF inflows

Published 1 September 2026

XRP experienced its strongest month since 2021 in August 2026, with its price surging nearly 70% at its peak and U.S. spot ETFs attracting over $150 million in net inflows. The rally, which saw the token climb from around $1 to almost $1.70, was largely concentrated in the final two weeks of the month, coinciding with a significant increase in institutional buying through regulated funds. The price action marked a notable shift for the digital asset, which had previously struggled in August, finishing positive only twice in the last nine years. The surge was fueled by a combination of factors, including renewed regulatory clarity following a court ruling that XRP itself is not a security, and a broader rally in the cryptocurrency market. Data from SoSoValue indicates that U.S. spot XRP ETFs recorded $153.55 million in net inflows for August. However, the timing was uneven: only $3.27 million arrived between August 3 and 14, while the remaining $150.28 million flowed in during the second half of the month. The week ending August 28 alone accounted for $110.49 million, the strongest weekly total for these funds in 2026.
