Xi Jinping to attend SCO summit, visit Kyrgyzstan, Egypt

Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and pay state visits to Kyrgyzstan and Egypt from August 30 to September 3, 2026, according to an announcement from China's Foreign Ministry. The trip marks Xi's second overseas journey this year, following a visit to North Korea in June. The announcement was made by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian at a regular press conference on August 27. Lin outlined the main arrangements for the visits and China's expectations for developing relations with both countries.
