WPL 2027 teams submit retention lists ahead of Kochi auction

The five Women’s Premier League franchises have submitted their player retention lists for the 2027 season, setting the stage for an auction scheduled for October 28 in Kochi. The season is scheduled to run from January 14 to February 7, 2027. Mumbai Indians retained 11 players and released six. The retained group includes captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Amanjot Kaur, Hayley Matthews, Amelia Kerr and Natalie Sciver-Brunt. The franchise also kept Nicola Carey, Rahila Firdous, Sajeevan Sajana, Sanskriti Gupta, Shabnim Ismail and Vaishnavi Sharma. Its released players are Poonam Khemnar, Saika Ishaque, Triveni Vasistha, Nalla Reddy, Milly Illingworth and Gunalan Kamalini. Royal Challengers Bengaluru released four players: Grace Harris, Linsey Smith, Gautami Naik and Dayalan Hemalatha. Its retained list includes Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry, Lauren Bell and Shreyanka Patil. Gujarat Giants also released four players: Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Aayushi Soni, Titas Sadhu and Shivani Singh, while retaining a group that includes Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney, Sophie Devine and Georgia Wareham.
