Woman fatally shot by police after stabbing 2 in Times Square
A woman was shot and killed by New York City police officers in Times Square on Monday afternoon after she stabbed two people, fatally injuring one of them, authorities said. The violent incident unfolded in one of the city's busiest tourist districts, prompting a major police response and temporary road closures. The confrontation began at approximately 4:30 p.m. near West 43rd Street and Seventh Avenue. According to police sources, a woman who appeared to be emotionally disturbed was threatening people with two knives. She stabbed a man and a woman before fleeing north toward an NYPD substation. Officers confronted her near the substation, ordering her to drop the weapons.
