Woman charged with murder after SUV hits LA Metro bus killing two

A woman has been charged with murder after allegedly driving her SUV the wrong way and running a red light, causing a crash that killed two people on a Los Angeles Metro bus. A separate, deadly helicopter crash occurred while news crews were covering the bus incident. Bailee Rios, 36, of Simi Valley, faces two counts of murder, a felony count of driving under the influence of a drug causing injury, and a misdemeanor count of reckless driving, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office. The charges stem from a collision on September 15 near the intersection of Nordhoff Street and De Soto Avenue in Chatsworth. Authorities say Rios was driving a 2004 Ford Expedition south in the northbound lanes of De Soto Avenue just after 5 p.m. when she ran a red light and struck the side of the Metro Line 166 bus. The impact killed bus passenger Daniel Castillo, 46, and ejected Gage Weida, 31, from the vehicle. Six other people were injured and transported to hospitals. Rios was also injured in the collision and was treated at a hospital before being taken into custody. She was booked on suspicion of murder with bail set at $4.03 million.
