Williams Unveils Retro Livery for Madrid Grand Prix

Williams Racing will feature a special retro livery for the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid, drawing inspiration from the team's successful 1981 car. The throwback design, a striking combination of white, green, and navy blue, pays homage to the FW07C that competed when Formula 1 last visited Madrid. Drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon are set to race with the commemorative livery throughout the weekend at the new Madring circuit. The special design was unveiled at a fan event in Madrid's Plaza de Callao, with home favorite Sainz present. The livery aims to bridge the team's storied past with its current ambitions to return to the front of the sport. Williams stated that the spirit of innovation, precision, and teamwork that characterized the engineers who developed the FW07C continues to shape the team today as they prepare the current FW48. Team Principal James Vowles emphasized that the retro livery is not merely about nostalgia but serves as a reminder of the core principles the team intends to apply to its future endeavors. "Our mission to get back to the front of the grid is drawn from, inspired by and informed by everything we've done before," Vowles said.
