Widow Sues Amazon Partners After Fatal Miami Plane Crash

A widow has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit alleging negligence and a series of landing failures after a Boeing 767 cargo plane, contracted by Amazon, overran the runway at Miami International Airport, killing five people and injuring others. Yaraisi Santiso Morejon filed the suit on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, naming Amazon, its aviation partners, and the aircraft's pilots as defendants. The complaint, filed three days after the fatal crash on Sunday, September 6, 2026, alleges that the disaster was a preventable result of multiple, concurrent failures, including pilot error, inadequate training, and hazardous landing conditions. The lawsuit states that the aircraft touched down significantly past the safe zone on the runway, traveling at a speed far exceeding recommendations and failing to execute a proper noseflare maneuver. It further claims that when the approach became unstable, the pilots did not perform a mandatory go-around or declare an emergency. Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, Morejon's husband and a driver for a cleaning company, was among the five individuals killed when the plane crashed into vehicles on airport property before erupting in flames.
