Whoopi Goldberg to take two-week break from The View for Netflix film

Whoopi Goldberg will temporarily leave her seat on The View for two weeks starting September 22 to film a new Netflix movie titled Women Like Us. The 70-year-old cohost announced the break alongside executive producer Brian Teta during the September 16 episode of the show's Behind the Table podcast. Goldberg will be absent from the ABC daytime talk show for most of the two-week period but is scheduled to return for Monday episodes throughout. On the days she is away, former cohosts Lisa Ling, Star Jones, Sherri Shepherd, and Debbie Matenopoulos will fill in as guest panelists. Regular panelist Joy Behar will step in as moderator for the Hot Topics roundtable during Goldberg's absence. The film Women Like Us is produced by Michelle Obama and also stars Jenifer Lewis, Vanessa Williams, and Vivica A. Fox. Goldberg described the project as being about "change and getting older and having fun with your friends and people who get you." She expressed excitement for the role and praised her costars. This is not the first time Goldberg has taken a leave of absence from The View for an acting project.
