Whistleblower Alleges DHS Agents Broke State Laws in Voter Roll Probe

A whistleblower within the Department of Homeland Security alleges that federal agents may have broken state laws while investigating voter rolls as part of an initiative called the Unlawful Voter Initiative. The anonymous whistleblower, whose account was provided to Democratic Senators Chuck Schumer and Alex Padilla, claims agents were directed to misrepresent themselves to access state voter registration websites, potentially violating laws that restrict such access to individual voters. According to the whistleblower report, agents were given a quota of at least 40 subjects per day, allowing only about 12 minutes per review to determine citizenship status. The report alleges the data used in the initiative is unreliable, containing outdated records that may incorrectly flag naturalized U.S. citizens as ineligible voters. In some cases, officers found no voter record for individuals flagged by DHS data. DHS has defended the operation, stating it is "rooting out and investigating election fraud" and that "aliens can and do vote in our elections.
