Wasim Akram voices concern for imprisoned mentor Imran Khan

Legendary Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram has publicly expressed deep concern for the health and well-being of his former captain and mentor, Imran Khan, who has been imprisoned in Pakistan since 2022. In a recent interview, Akram stated that he has not been able to speak with Khan for three years and finds the situation difficult to comprehend. Akram, a key figure in Pakistan's 1992 World Cup victory under Khan's captaincy, described their bond as that of mentor and friend. "Imran Khan was my mentor. He's my friend. I miss him a lot. I haven't spoken to him for three years," Akram said. He emphasized that regardless of Khan's legal status, his health must be a priority. "The court of law is the court of law. But as far as his health is concerned, there can be no compromise on that." The comments come amid growing international attention on Khan's condition. The 73-year-old former prime minister and cricket icon has been incarcerated since 2022 following convictions in multiple corruption cases, which he denies.
