Walking Dead Producers Settle for $120 Million

Five producers of the television franchise "The Walking Dead" have reached a $120 million settlement with AMC Networks, concluding a legal battle that spanned nine years over profit participation rights. The agreement, announced on Friday, September 4, 2026, resolves claims that AMC had improperly calculated profits from the highly successful series and its spinoffs. Under the terms of the settlement, AMC Networks is expected to pay $85 million this month, with the remaining $35 million due by January 31, 2027. This payment schedule was disclosed by AMC in a securities filing, which also indicated the settlement would reduce the company's expected cash flow for the year from $220 million to $150 million. The settlement includes a provision where the $35 million payment will be treated as an advance against future modified adjusted gross receipts participation amounts that will accrue to the plaintiffs. The producers, including Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, Charles Eglee, and Glen Mazzara, first filed suit in 2017.
