VPD Officer Charged With Fraud and Theft

Published 4 September 2026

A veteran Vancouver Police Department officer has been charged with multiple counts of fraud, theft, and breach of trust following a lengthy investigation. Kalwinder Singh Dosanjh, 50, faces nine charges, including four counts of fraud over $5,000, four counts of theft over $5,000, and one count of breach of trust by a public officer. The alleged offences occurred between December 8, 2017, and July 25, 2025, in Vancouver, Surrey, and other locations across British Columbia. Dosanjh was arrested on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and subsequently released from custody under conditions that include being prohibited from acting as a police officer. His service weapon has also been seized. The investigation, which lasted more than two and a half years, was initiated in December 2023 after the Vancouver Police Department received information from multiple victims alleging criminal activity. Chief Constable Steve Rai stated that 19 victims have been identified so far, with reported losses totaling approximately $3 million. Police believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward and have established a dedicated phone line for anyone with information.
