Volkswagen Adds Long-Wheelbase ID. Buzz Cargo

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has added a long-wheelbase version of the ID. Buzz Cargo, extending the electric van by 250 millimeters and increasing its cargo capacity to 4.4 cubic meters. The new configuration also brings longer twin sliding doors, updated driver-assistance features and a choice of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. Volkswagen’s published specifications and reported German prices describe the model; UK-specific pricing has not been confirmed. The added length provides about 0.5 cubic meters more cargo space than the standard-wheelbase version. The load floor measures 2,458 millimeters, while the width between the wheel housings remains 1,230 millimeters, according to the reported specifications. The twin sliding doors are 190 millimeters longer than those on the shorter model and are described as wide enough to admit a European pallet. A wooden load floor is standard, and buyers can choose a two- or three-seat layout. The van uses an 86-kilowatt-hour battery and is offered with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Reported maximum payload is 700 kilograms for the rear-wheel-drive version and 606 kilograms for all-wheel drive.
