Vodafone TV Launches in October as Sky Rival
Vodafone is set to launch a new entertainment hub called Vodafone TV in October, a set-top box and service that combines live television, streaming subscriptions, cloud gaming, and apps into a single platform. The move positions the telecom company as a direct rival to established pay-TV providers like Sky in the United Kingdom. The Vodafone TV hub is a small, puck-style device running the Android TV operating system. It supports 4K video, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos audio, with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The service is built around Freely, a free streaming platform that provides access to more than 70 live channels and thousands of hours of on-demand content from broadcasters including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5. This allows users to watch traditional terrestrial channels over the internet without needing an aerial or satellite dish. At launch, the package will include subscriptions to Netflix Standard with ads and HBO Max Standard with ads. Customers will also have the option to add other services such as Disney+, YouTube Premium, DAZN, Spotify, and Prime Video through a Vodafone Subscription on a 30-day rolling basis.
