USS Theodore Roosevelt set for Middle East deployment
The U.S. Navy is preparing to send the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt and its strike group to the Middle East in the coming weeks, extending the service's sustained naval presence amid the ongoing conflict with Iran. The deployment, expected to last more than seven months, will see the Roosevelt relieve the USS George Washington, which recently arrived in the region after deploying from Japan. According to a report from the U.S. Naval Institute, the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group will depart San Diego, California, for a deployment to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
