US, WHO Send Aid to Nepal After Deadly Flash Floods

The United States and the World Health Organization have extended support and expressed solidarity with Nepal following devastating flash floods and mudslides along the Nepal-China border, with Washington announcing $500,000 in assistance and the WHO dispatching emergency medical supplies. The international response comes as the death toll in Nepal has risen to at least 392, with hundreds of people still missing, including many foreign nationals. US President Donald Trump said Washington had contacted Nepal's leadership and offered to provide whatever assistance the country needs. "We've called Nepal, and we've offered any help that they need," Trump said, describing the destruction as severe. The US State Department has reported that approximately 90 Americans may be affected by the floods, with three citizens safely rescued so far. The department said it was not aware of any US citizen deaths as of Thursday morning. The State Department announced it is deploying a disaster response adviser to the region and providing $500,000 in emergency assistance through its global award with Catholic Relief Services.
