Published 28 August 2026

The United States and the World Health Organization have extended support and expressed solidarity with Nepal following devastating flash floods and mudslides along the Nepal-China border, with Washington announcing $500,000 in assistance and the WHO dispatching emergency medical supplies. The international response comes as the death toll in Nepal has risen to at least 392, with hundreds of people still missing, including many foreign nationals. US President Donald Trump said Washington had contacted Nepal's leadership and offered to provide whatever assistance the country needs.
