US Poverty Rate Hits Record Low as Incomes Set New High

The official U.S. poverty rate fell to a record low of 10.2% in 2025, while median household income reached an all-time high, according to data released by the Census Bureau. The figures mark the second consecutive annual decline in the poverty rate, which now represents approximately 34.5 million Americans living below the official poverty line. The report, which covers the first year of President Donald Trump's second term, shows real median household income rose 2.6% to $87,460, the highest level recorded in a series dating back to 1967. The child poverty rate also dropped to a historic low of 13.4%. The White House highlighted the data as evidence of a successful economic agenda.
