UN Adds 61 Companies to Settlement Database

The United Nations human rights office on Friday updated its database of companies linked to Israeli settlements in Palestinian territories, adding 61 firms and removing five. The revised list names 214 companies from 11 countries, most of them based in Israel, according to the office’s update as reported in the source material. The database was first published in 2020. The latest total compares with 158 companies in the prior update. The listed firms operate in sectors including energy, food, hospitality, transport and agriculture. Newly added companies named in the reports include Israeli pesticide maker ADAMA, real estate firm Alony Hetz and Spain’s Salvat Logistica. Companies already listed include Airbnb, Expedia, Booking.com, Motorola Solutions and TripAdvisor. The UN rights office said its review applied criteria covering activities such as providing equipment used in demolitions, surveillance services, or transport and other services that help sustain settlements. The office assessed companies for which it had received submissions during specified periods; it said the database is not exhaustive. The latest submission period closed in June 2024.
