UMass Dartmouth Football Player Fatally Stabbed in Providence

Marvins Antoine, an 18-year-old freshman football player at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, was fatally stabbed early Saturday morning in Providence, Rhode Island, following an altercation that began at a nearby nightclub. A suspect is in custody and has been charged with murder. The stabbing occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, in a Wendy's parking lot on Charles Street. Providence police said the incident stemmed from a fight that started at the Mezzo Lounge, which had become overcrowded. Customers were being turned away at the door before the altercation moved to the parking lot. Antoine, a running back from Boston, suffered stab wounds to the chest and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Another UMass Dartmouth football player, 19-year-old freshman defensive back Kensley Macean, was also stabbed.
