UK Security Committee Reviews Protection for Harry and Meghan

The UK's Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) has commissioned new government-backed security risk assessments for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their return to the United Kingdom as full-time residents. The committee informed the Duke of Sussex last week that it would conduct a separate review for him and for the Duchess, marking the first official assessment for Meghan since the couple stepped back as working royals in 2020. RAVEC, which oversees taxpayer-funded police protection for royalty and public figures, has asked the couple to provide detailed schedules of their daily routines to inform the evaluation. This includes granular information such as the timings and routes of their school run for their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5. The committee stated it needs to establish a "pattern of life" based on the minutiae of the family's new life in Britain to assess any changes to their threat level. The review comes as the couple faces practical security challenges. They recently decided to switch their children to a new school just two days after they started, reportedly due to security concerns over the commute.
