UK PM Burnham urges culture shift in business ahead of Budget

Prime Minister Andy Burnham is hosting chief executives from some of Britain's largest companies at Downing Street on Monday to promote a "culture shift" in how the UK does business, positioning the government as a "partner for growth" ahead of the Autumn Budget. The meetings, which include a reception and a private engagement with senior bosses, are designed to signal a new approach focused on supporting entrepreneurs and accelerating infrastructure projects through devolution. Burnham will first chair a roundtable with entrepreneurs from sectors including fintech, artificial intelligence, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing. Attendees are expected to include founders of companies such as Octopus Energy, Revolut, and Starling Bank. Following this, he will welcome chief executives from major firms including HSBC, Standard Chartered, BP, Shell, BT, Vodafone, Rolls-Royce, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, and BAE Systems to a reception at No. 10, alongside regional mayors. The Prime Minister stated that Britain has "everything it needs to succeed" but requires a change in business culture to unlock its full potential.
