The United Kingdom has pledged 5 million pounds and offered emergency responders to assist Nepal following catastrophic flash floods that killed hundreds and left more than 1,000 people missing along the Nepal-China border. The disaster, triggered by a glacier collapse on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, has prompted an outpouring of sympathy from British leaders and the royal family. British Prime Minister Andy Burnham described the scenes emerging from the region as "devastating" on Thursday, August 27. He confirmed that immediate action included the deployment of consular support staff to provide round-the-clock assistance to British nationals affected by the crisis.
