UK Armed Forces Member Dies In Ukraine Road Incident

A member of the UK armed forces has died in a road traffic incident in Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence confirmed on Sunday. The serviceperson, who has not been named, died on Saturday, September 12. The ministry stated the death was not the result of hostile action. The Ministry of Defence announced the death in a statement posted to social media. "It is with deep regret that we must announce that a member of the UK Armed Forces died in a road traffic incident in Ukraine on Saturday 12th September," the statement read. "The family have been informed and have requested a period of grace before further details are released." Defence Secretary Wes Streeting expressed his condolences, writing on social media that the loss was "very sad news for the family and for those grieving with them in our Armed Forces." He added, "My deepest condolences go to them all." Officials have not disclosed the identity of the deceased or the specific circumstances of the crash. The Ministry of Defence has declined to elaborate beyond its initial statement when approached for further comment.
