Uganda's King Oyo Nyimba dies at 34

King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the reigning monarch of Uganda's Tooro Kingdom and once recognized as the world's youngest king, has died at the age of 34. The death was announced by the kingdom's prime minister, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, in a statement released late on August 28, 2026. The king passed away at approximately 10:00 p.m. local time while receiving treatment in the United States, following weeks of speculation about his deteriorating health. "It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of His Majesty the Omukama of Tooro," Akiiki said, describing the loss as immeasurable.
